In Swooon’s exclusive sneak peek of the August 12 episode of Welcome to Plathville, Ethan Plath’s unexpected reaction to his younger sister’s big news steals the spotlight.
Before we get there, let’s rewind. As Lydia steps into the carefully chosen proposal spot, she instantly realizes what’s about to unfold. “The moment I see Zac, I know exactly why he’s here, and I just can’t believe it,” she admits.
Zac Wyse can’t stop grinning as Lydia Plath works her way through hugs from every member of the Plath family gathered for the big moment. Watching her beam, he admits, “I just kept smiling bigger and bigger because that’s totally Lydia. Like, that’s just so her.”
When Lydia finally makes it over to Zac, he sweeps her into a hug and spins her around before launching into the moment he’s been planning. “You are the love of my life, and you are so special to me,” he says, voice trembling. “I have been so blessed with the joy of knowing you and… I’m shaking.”
Then comes the classic proposal move — Zac drops to one knee as Lydia starts to cry. “Oh, I should pull out the ring,” he remembers aloud.
But not everyone is feeling the romance. From the sidelines, Ethan Plath mutters, “Please say no.” A beat later, he resigns, “God, she’s gonna say yes.”
Ethan has never been a fan of his little sister’s whirlwind romance. When he learned Zac had already secured their dad Barry Plath’s blessing, Ethan vented to cameras: “What the f**k? You meet a guy for three months, and you tell me you’re going to get married?” While he concedes that Zac makes Lydia “happy,” Ethan still feels the whole relationship has moved “pretty quick.”
Lydia and Zac got married in February 2025, just two months after getting engaged. Their wedding was also the place of the couple’s first kiss!
