Meri Drops Bombshell About Why Kody & Robyn Really Left ‘Sister Wives’: “Monogamy Became Their Thing Back in 2010”

After 16 years, Meri Brown is finally done protecting Kody and Robyn — and her latest comments suggest the cracks in the family go all the way back to the very first season.
In a newly released Season 21 teaser, Meri sat down with her friend Jenn Sullivan and said the quiet part out loud about Kody and Robyn walking away from Sister Wives. When Jenn suggested, “I think monogamy is their thing,” Meri fired back: “I think back in 2010 monogamy became their thing.”
Let that sink in — 2010 is the year the show premiered.
Meri: “They’re Not Willing to Talk to Me”
Meri also revealed that Kody and Robyn refused to even have the conversation. “They’re not willing to talk to me, Kody and Robyn,” she said. “Then they were like, ‘we are not going to film with you guys anymore.'”
And she’s clearly done tiptoeing around them: “He’s not filming anymore. So f— him.”

Janelle vs. Meri: The Coyote Pass Trust Test
But Meri isn’t the only one with receipts. In the Season 21 premiere, Janelle confronted Meri over Kody’s accusation — made during his Season 20 “apology tour” — that Janelle tried to cut Meri out of the Coyote Pass land sale with a “backdoor deal.”
Janelle called the claim a parting shot: “As a parting gift because Kody and Robyn aren’t filming with us anymore, he felt like he should make up this story that I had somehow tried to go behind Meri’s back.”
The timing, she said, proves it: Coyote Pass sold in April 2025 for a reported $1.5 million, and Kody only started pushing the “backdoor deal” story months after the deal was done. “It was not true,” Janelle insisted.
To Christine, Janelle was even blunter, calling the accusation “a final F— you as he was leaving.”
Meri, for her part, refused to pick a side: “I’m not taking a side with Janelle or Kody and Robyn, because to be honest with you, every single one of us in humanity will tell our stories to make us look better.”

The Title Card That Confirmed Everything
TLC made the exit official in the Season 21 trailer with a title card reading: “After 16 years of filming Sister Wives, Kody & Robyn will not be returning to the show.”
The three remaining wives learned the news alongside everyone else. Christine admitted, “I don’t know how to process it all. It’s just bizarre they’re done. I have no idea.” Meri said she was “surprised,” while Janelle described herself as “very shocked.”
Neither the couple nor TLC has publicly explained the exit. Among fans, the most popular theory is a contract dispute — but that’s speculation, not confirmed.

What’s Next for the OG3
Season 21 now belongs to Christine, Janelle, and Meri as they rebuild on their own terms. Janelle is stepping back into the dating world, Meri is searching for companionship with newfound confidence, and Christine is settling into married life with David Woolley.
The season also promises emotional milestones: the family returns to Flagstaff to honor Garrison’s memory at an animal shelter, and a long-discussed mini family reunion finally becomes reality.
So here’s the question for you: do you buy Meri’s theory that Kody and Robyn chose monogamy way back in 2010 — or is there more to the story? And on Coyote Pass: Team Janelle or Team Meri? Sound off in the comments!
