‘Sister Wives’ Episode 2 Recap: Christine and Meri’s Photo Reunion EXPLODES — and Janelle’s Dating Confession Shocks Fans

Last night, Sister Wives finally gave fans what they have been waiting for: Christine, Janelle, and Meri Brown in the same room for the first time in years. The excuse was a harmless pile of old family photos. The result was anything but harmless — because the three women could not even agree on whether they were allowed to talk about the past.
Season 21, Episode 2, “Been There Done That,” delivered the first true test of the Kody-and-Robyn-free era. And while the fireworks came from an unlikely source — a photo album — the episode also gave us Janelle’s most revealing dating moment ever.
Christine Wants to Bury the Past — Meri Wants to Dig It Up

The plan sounded sweet: flip through old pictures, laugh at the memories, maybe shed a tear or two. But according to episode previews, Christine quickly discovered that the photos stir up things she would honestly rather leave buried. She came for nostalgia — she did not sign up for a therapy session.
Meri, on the other hand, wanted exactly that. She arrived with the biggest collection — she was once the family’s unofficial photographer, before everyone started complaining she took too many pictures — and she pushed for something deeper than a slideshow. She wanted to actually talk it through. That clash of expectations turned the reunion into the night’s biggest flashpoint, with Janelle caught squarely in the middle.
Keep in mind: this tension has been simmering since last week’s premiere, when Meri admitted she still was not sure what to believe about Kody’s disputed Coyote Pass “backdoor deal” claim. That doubt is still in the room with them.
Janelle’s Dating Life Gets REAL: “Very Old-Fashioned, Very Conservative”

In the episode’s other big storyline, Janelle sat down with a relationship consultant to figure out what dating even looks like after three decades married to Kody. The session produced one of the most talked-about moments of the night.
According to TV Shows Ace’s report on the episode, the expert asked Janelle how comfortable she is with physical intimacy early in a relationship — and Janelle shut it down on the spot. She told the consultant she is “very old-fashioned, very conservative in that realm” and that commitment would have to come first.
She also balked at the expert’s suggestion of simply striking up a conversation with a man at church, admitting in a confessional she has never once hit on a guy — and has zero plans to start now.
What she did take from the session: the idea of dating someone who simply makes her life better, after years of being the caretaker. And fans know where that led — Janelle is now dating a man named Pete, whom she has called “wonderful.” Viewers have not met him on the show yet, but the season trailer teased their first meeting. Stay tuned.
The Burned Bridges Bonfire
The episode closed on a cathartic note: the three women bonding around a bonfire and burning old wedding jewelry — a literal burned-bridges ritual for the life they left behind. Christine and David Woolley also opened up about their marriage, with David admitting he struggles with what he calls Christine’s “two worlds.”
And Meri? She is still insisting she and her friend Ron do not date — they “just hang out.” Sure, Meri. Sure.
Why Last Night Mattered
Episode 1 was still haunted by Kody and Robyn’s exit — the women spent most of it reacting to the news. Episode 2 was the first hour where Christine, Janelle, and Meri actually started building something together. The question now is whether “talking it all out” heals old wounds — or opens brand-new ones.
So where do you stand? Is Christine right that the past should stay buried — or is Meri right that the only way forward is through the hard conversations? Drop TEAM CHRISTINE or TEAM MERI in the comments!
