‘Unfortunately, Nobody Told Me Red Is Also the Color of Warning Signs!’ — Sarper Wants His Shekinah Tattoo REMOVED

Sarper Guven is done wearing his marriage on his neck — literally. The 90 Day Fiancé star just told Inked magazine that he wants his giant red-lips neck tattoo — the one modeled after his estranged wife Shekinah Garner’s lips — removed. And his own summary of the situation is brutally funny: “Unfortunately, nobody told me red is also the color of warning signs!”
With Shekinah’s divorce filing moving forward, the tattoo has become what Sarper calls “a breakup souvenir that is hard to miss.” But erasing it may be harder than getting it was.
“Ideally, I Would Like to Have a Clean Neck Again”
Sarper isn’t pretending the tattoo never meant something. He told Inked: “Ideally, I would like to have a clean neck again. Not because I want to erase my memories. Memories can stay in my mind.“
He admitted the tattoo still ambushes him every morning: “It’s a strange feeling. Sometimes I forget it’s there, but then I look in the mirror and boom! My past is saying good morning to me!“

From Grand Romantic Gesture to Regret
Rewind to when he got inked, and Sarper was the definition of a man in love. “At that time, I was in love, and I wanted to do something very special and permanent,” he explained. “I chose my neck because it was visible. I didn’t want to hide it. I wanted everybody to see my commitment.“
Even the color had meaning: “Lips are red, love is red, passion is red.” Then the punchline that writes itself now: “Unfortunately, nobody told me red is also the color of warning signs!”
To his credit, Sarper refuses to trash what the tattoo once represented: “At that time it was a symbol of my love. It was real for me, and I don’t want to disrespect my feelings from that period.”
The Messy Road That Led Here
The marriage has been falling apart in public for months. After 90 Day: The Last Resort showed the couple recommitting to each other, Shekinah torched that moment on Instagram — accusing Sarper of doing it out of “pity” while already planning to leave her, and claiming the show was “a promo for your comedy career, not an attempt to save our marriage.” Sarper pushed back and denied choosing fame or money over her.
Then came the declarations: Sarper publicly announced he was “SINGLE.” Shekinah fired back that she still considered herself married — because legally, she was. Days later, she filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
In a twist that sums up their entire dynamic, Shekinah recently admitted on The Sarah Fraser Show that she still loves Sarper — “it doesn’t just go away” — while answering “No, not at all” when asked if she believes he still loves her.

Can Red Ink Actually Come Off?
Here’s the real problem: red ink is notoriously stubborn. According to reports, Shekinah herself told Sarper during the Last Resort Tell-All that red ink couldn’t be removed. He isn’t convinced: “I know tattoo removal technology has improved, and red ink can sometimes be treated too. But I need to research it properly and speak with specialists.”
A cover-up is on the table — but Sarper is terrified of trading one impulsive decision for another. His joke landed perfectly: “Imagine I try to cover it and end up with a giant dragon on my neck. Then next year we will have another interview about why I have a dragon!“
Sarper’s Life Is Moving On With or Without the Tattoo
Divorce or not, Sarper has thrown himself into stand-up comedy, saying he has performed more than 250 headlining shows — and that audiences increasingly come to see “Sarper the comedian,” not just the reality star. He has also reportedly filmed for 90 Day: The Single Life — the very dating spinoff Shekinah said they once promised each other they’d never do.
His takeaway from the whole tattoo fiasco could double as a warning to every reality-TV romantic: “Permanent decisions and temporary emotions are not always a good combination.“
So — Team Remove It, or Team Keep the Ink? Should Sarper laser off the most famous neck tattoo in 90 Day Fiancé history, or wear his heartbreak as the ultimate cautionary tale?
