At the Creative Arts Emmys last month, the My Big Fat Fabulous Life star dropped a bombshell detail about her whirlwind engagement to Jake Beaudoin — she was convinced the man was about to dump her. “I Thought He Was About to Break Up With Me”

Speaking to People on the red carpet, Whitney admitted she had no idea a proposal was coming — in fact, she feared the exact opposite. “I thought he was about to break up with me, which is the funny thing,” she said. “We were on a trip. The whole trip I was telling everybody, ‘I just know when we get home he’s going to leave. I just know he is.'”

Jake, she recalled, “was acting a little weird — and it can go one of two ways. Either you’re getting married or you’re breaking up, you don’t know which one.” When the ring came out instead, the relief was overwhelming. Jake proposed with an aquamarine ring that Whitney teased was “incredibly meaningful” to the couple. After the chaos of her 2020 engagement ending, who could blame her for bracing for the worst?

“Someone asked me earlier down in the green room, ‘Where are you guys thinking about getting married?’ I said, ‘Iceland.’ Jake said, ‘Oh, that would be cool.’ And I said, ‘What do you mean? We’ve already talked about this.'” Her verdict on her fiancé’s wedding-planning contributions? “Men! I basically got everything planned. He’s not even on my level in any capacity at all, but that’s okay.”

Longtime viewers have watched Whitney’s entire love life unfold on camera — the Frenchman, the Chase heartbreak, the fertility journey on Season 13. So it’s no surprise she wants the wedding on TV too. “I’ve shared my entire life for 14 seasons. I don’t think I’m going to stop at my wedding,” she told People. “So hopefully cameras will be there, yes.”

TLC has already confirmed Season 14 is on the way, though there’s no premiere date yet. If the cameras do roll in Iceland, it would be the show’s most dramatic wedding arc since… well, the one that never happened.

A Red-Carpet Debut and a Dancing Comeback

The Emmys also marked Jake’s first big Hollywood moment by Whitney’s side — and she was beaming about it. “It’s something that I love about him so much that I’ve always wanted in a relationship,” she said. “And that is a man who’s not afraid to stand beside me and to put himself outside of his comfort zone, not only on television, but at events like this.”

Meanwhile, Whitney just reminded everyone where she started: on October 4 she hosted a dance pop-up class at the famous Pineapple Dance Studios in London — a full-circle moment for the woman who became famous with “A Fat Girl Dancing.” New era, same Whitney.
