She Went Home. He Stayed in Jail: The Dark Past of Anna Johnston’s Boyfriend Jeffrey Meservey

Anna Johnston went home. Her boyfriend didn’t. When the 7 Little Johnstons star was arrested for DUI in Georgia on October 10, the man sitting in the back of the police cruiser next to her wasn’t a stranger — he was 44-year-old Jeffrey Meservey, her boyfriend of less than a year. Anna posted her $1,563 bond and walked out the next day. Jeffrey is still behind bars.

The Night They Both Went to Jail

According to the arrest report obtained by The U.S. Sun and first detailed by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, officers found Anna’s car parked on the side of a Georgia highway in the rain on the night of October 10. Jeffrey was standing outside the vehicle on his phone, trying to get a friend to pick them up — because, he told police, he was “upset due to Anna driving them around with alcohol in her system.”

Anna told officers she and Jeffrey had simply been arguing about directions. Police described slurred speech, unsteadiness, and the smell of alcohol. A roadside breath test showed a BAC of 0.139 — nearly double Georgia’s 0.08 legal limit. She was booked on a DUI charge.

Then officers ran Jeffrey’s ID, and the night went from bad to worse.

13 Forgery Charges and a $47,350 Bond

An outstanding warrant from another county popped up, and Jeffrey was booked into the Houston County Jail alongside Anna. He was later transferred to the Bibb County Jail, where, according to jail records cited by multiple outlets, he is currently still in custody facing 13 counts of misdemeanor forgery. His bond is set at $47,350 — a sum he has not been able to post.

To put it plainly: Anna’s freedom cost $1,563 and one night. Jeffrey’s freedom costs $47,350, and nine days later, he’s still sitting in a cell.

Forged checks, forged documents — whatever the specifics turn out to be, 13 counts is not a paperwork mix-up. Fans who watched Anna rebuild her life away from her estranged family are asking the same question: how much did she really know about the man she chose?

This Wasn’t His First Run-In With the Law

According to Starcasm, which obtained Jeffrey’s records, the October arrest wasn’t his first — or even his second. He has multiple mugshots from prior arrests over the past 12 months alone. And The Ashley previously reported that Jeffrey was arrested in October 2025 on a theft-by-conversion charge — just two months before Anna introduced him to the world.

Neither Anna nor Jeffrey has publicly addressed any of the arrests. No convictions have been reported — these remain charges and allegations, not findings of guilt.

Fans Tried to Warn Her — She Didn’t Listen

Here’s the part that splits the fandom in two. When Anna went public with Jeffrey in late 2025, fans who had spent years defending her against her estranged parents, Trent and Amber, immediately raised red flags about his record. Some fans accused others of being judgmental — “she deserves to be happy.” Others said love is blind, and Anna was about to learn the hard way.

So here’s the question the whole fandom is fighting over: now that Anna has seen what the “I told you so” crowd warned her about — does she stay, or does she finally walk away? Drop your take in the comments.
