Fans Say They Waited 6 Hours and Paid $50 for Slaton Meet-and-Greet Photos — and the Fandom Is Split

Six hours in line. Fifty dollars. Two photos — taken from so far away that the fans in them are barely recognizable. That is the story one 1000-LB Sisters fan shared online after a recent meet-and-greet with the Slaton siblings, and it has split the fandom right down the middle.
The Post That Started It All

According to TV Spoiler News (October 14), the fan wrote in a 1000-LB Sisters fan group that they “stood in line for 6 hours and paid $50 for the pic and got these 2” photos, adding that other pictures from the same event looked much better. The two photos show the siblings — Tammy Slaton, Amy Slaton, Chris Combs, Brittany Combs, Amanda Halterman, and Misty Wentworth — posing as a group in front of a step-and-repeat backdrop, shot from a distance.
The complaint was not the wait alone, or the price alone, but the combination: six hours plus $50 for pictures the fan considered badly taken.
“Refund Them” vs. “Nobody Forced You to Pay”
The comments split almost instantly into two camps. One side sided with the fan completely: “If there going to charge people for these photos they should have enough respect for their fans to bring in a professional photographer,” one commenter wrote, while another added: “you do the math, somebody else soon will be getting a new car.”
The other side was far less sympathetic. “If I live to be 299 I’ll never understand why people PAY for a pic of strangers. Waiting 6 hours for this nonsense is mind boggling,” one fan wrote. Another put it even more bluntly: “Why are people even paying to see them is beyond me.”
The Other Side of the Line

Not everyone walked away unhappy. One commenter who attended the same event admitted their picture was not good either — “very far away” — but shrugged it off: “Oh well was nice meeting Amy, she talk about Tammy some.” According to that same commenter, Brian Lovvorn, Amy’s husband, “handles all money” at the events — a detail that suggests the photo operation is a family-run affair rather than a polished celebrity machine, which, depending on your camp, is either part of the charm or exactly the problem.
Why Meet-and-Greets Are a Flashpoint for This Fandom
Outside the show, the siblings regularly appear at meet-and-greet events and special guest appearances. For a fandom built on years of watching Tammy and Amy’s most personal moments, meeting the family in person feels different from meeting a typical celebrity — fans feel like they already know them, so a distant, blurry photo stings more, especially after a six-hour wait and a $50 price tag.
What We Do Not Know Yet
It is worth being clear about what has not been confirmed. The fan post does not name the event’s venue or date, and there is no public response from the siblings about the pricing or the photo setup. The $50 figure and the six-hour wait come from the fan’s own account, not from an official event listing.
Still, the debate itself is real, and every time the siblings announce a new appearance, this same argument is likely to flare up again.
So now it is your turn: would you stand in line for six hours and pay $50 to meet the Slatons — or is that a hard no? Are you Team Worth It, because meeting the family in person is priceless, or Team Rip-Off, because fans deserve a professional photo for that price? Drop your vote in the comments.
