The German royal wedding was briefly interrupted after the bride unexpectedly fainted during the ceremony.
Prince Ludwig of Bavaria’s (or the Duchy of Bavaria) royal wedding to Sophie-Alexandra Evekink took place at Theatine Church in Munich on May 20th. About 700 guests attended the wedding.
Prince Ludwig, who is 40 years old, proposed to Sophie, who is 34 years old and was still studying for her PhD at the University of Oxford in the summer of 2022, according to Town & Country magazine.
According to Bild, the couple’s wedding had to be briefly paused after bride Sophie fainted. A wedding guest said that the bride suddenly fell backwards and the groom was able to catch her.
“The groomsmen rushed over to help. We were relieved when she quickly recovered,” the source added.
Bild reported that the bride felt better after taking a sip of Coca-Cola, so the incident only lasted for a short time. Afterwards, the bride and groom waved to the wedding guests.
The royal wedding gown was designed and tailored specifically for bride Sophie by the famous brand Reem Acra. Meanwhile, the veil covering her face was made by a Ukrainian designer.
The couple’s reception was hosted by Prince Ludwig’s cousin, Duke Franz of Bavaria, and took place at the luxurious Nymphenburg Palace.
Prince Ludwig is the eldest son of Prince Luitpold and a descendant of the last king of Bavaria, Ludwig III. Sophie was born in Singapore to a Canadian family of Dutch origin.
