“She used to be my best friend,” Tammy says of Amy in PEOPLE’s exclusive preview of ‘1000-Lb. Sisters’

Tensions remain high between Tammy and Amy Slaton in the upcoming season of TLC’s 1000-Lb. Sisters.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at season 8, Tammy is shown stepping into a new chapter of her life after losing 500 lbs. and undergoing skin removal surgery. “Everything about me is smaller,” she says, joking that even her underwear is now tiny enough to fold with ease.

This season also captures Tammy attending her first-ever job interview and beginning volunteer work at an animal shelter. “I’m just starting to figure out what I want to do with my life,” she shares as she explores new possibilities.

The trailer further highlights her growing romance with Andrea Dalton, with the pair openly expressing their love for one another.

“I kind of wonder if she’s going to ask me to marry her,” Tammy admits with a blush.

Meanwhile, Amy is focusing on growing up and making more mature choices as she prepares for her upcoming wedding to her boyfriend, Brian Lovvorn.

“I’m trying to learn from my mistakes. I’m finally becoming an adult,” Amy tells her siblings before the clip cuts to her trying on wedding dresses. “The wedding is in like six months. It’s really important that the venue is haunted — that’s the symbol of our love.”

In a confessional, she adds, “My family doesn’t want anything to do with it… and neither does ‘Queen Tammy.’ ”

The tension between Tammy and Amy has only intensified since last season, which ended in a major clash between the two sisters. Their brother Chris reveals that it’s been two months since their “blow-up,” and their family group chat has been pure chaos ever since.

“Every other word is an F-bomb. ‘Beep beep beep, you beep-beep-beep ass,’” he says, cracking up with laughter.

In the clip, Chris asks Tammy whether she and Amy have made peace yet, but Tammy immediately gets defensive. “If Amy would keep her mouth shut, then I would too,” she snaps.

“It feels like we’re drifting apart. She used to be my best friend,” she adds, admitting how much the distance between them hurts.

Older sisters Misty and Amanda are together discussing the rift between the siblings, explaining that they all were surprised Amy didn’t ask Tammy to be her maid of honor. They also revealed that Tammy called Amy a “deadbeat mom” to sons Gage Deon, 4, and Glenn Allen, 3.

“I can’t handle her toxic ass no more,” Amy says, starting to cry. “I’m done.”

“We really need to kind of get it smoothed over,” Chris tells her. “Families are supposed to pull together.”

“I’m not going to sit here and have you feed me this bologna when I don’t like bologna,” Amy replies as Chris and Misty look at each other in confusion.
