Tammy and Amy Slaton’s sister, Amanda Halterman, shared the sad news on social media.

“On Tuesday, Aug. 26, Halterman shared on Instagram that a family member had passed away, just a day after requesting prayers from her followers.”

“With a heart and spirit completely shattered, I feel compelled to share this,” the TLC star wrote in her update. “Yesterday, my little cousin went to rest at the feet of Jesus. She was a powerful presence, someone who gave and received love unconditionally. She brought life to every gathering and was my closest friend.”

In the comments section, fans flooded Halterman with messages of sympathy. One person wrote, “So sorry for your loss 😢.”

Another added, “Oh no, Amanda! My deepest condolences to you and the entire Slaton family.”

A third echoed similar sentiments, commenting, “So sorry to hear about Katie’s passing 💔. Keeping you all in my prayers.”

Another follower shared their empathy, writing, “So sorry for your loss. I lost my husband to cancer three years ago. Yes, cancer truly sucks!”

Someone else added, “My condolences to you and your family 🙏🏽.”

On Monday, Halterman posted another photo of her cousin along with the message: “Please whisper a prayer for our family as we continue to support Katie Slaton. I am so grateful to be by your side.”

While Halterman didn’t reveal the specifics of Katie’s condition, Tammy offered more details in a January Facebook update.

“This is my cousin Katie, and she’s the one we started the GoFundMe for,” the 1000-Lb Sisters star wrote. “All we’re asking for is prayers or even the smallest donation. Anything helps. My family and I are doing what we can, but whether it’s a dollar or simply a prayer, every bit of support means the world to us.”
