Whitney Way Thore has never hidden her dream of becoming a mother, and in Season 13 of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, viewers will watch her take bold steps to make that dream a reality — on her own terms. No longer willing to wait, Whitney is pursuing motherhood through artificial insemination, documenting each milestone and challenge along the way.

Choosing the Right Donor
In the season premiere, the 40-year-old sat down with her friends to search a sperm donor database, walking through her must-haves and dealbreakers.
“My criteria for a donor are pretty straightforward,” she explained. “I don’t care about the child’s race, eye color, or hair color. What matters most is that the donor is healthy and free of genetic diseases.”

Making It Official
By the July 8 episode, Whitney was preparing for a key step — a womb wash — just before attempting to conceive. Laughing about a friend bringing in a rubber turtle, she admitted that things suddenly felt very real.
“It was one thing to freeze my eggs, but this is different,” she told the cameras. “This is the most intentional act I’ve ever done to try to get pregnant, and it feels strange to be doing it alone.”

Moments later, she declared, “All right. I think I’m ready to get pregnant.” While the outcome remains unknown for now, future episode previews show her anxiously awaiting a pregnancy test result.

A Longtime Dream with Past Heartbreak
Whitney has been candid about her struggles with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a condition that can affect fertility. In a previous season, she experienced what she thought were positive pregnancy tests, only to later learn they were false positives likely caused by PCOS.

Reflecting on the experience in a 2017 interview with PEOPLE, she said, “I started thinking maybe this was meant to be because I’ve always worried I wouldn’t be able to get pregnant. That’s what made it all the more traumatic.”
