Whitney got emotional after Babs seemingly confirmed a bittersweet detail.
Whitney Thore, star of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, appears to receive a message from her late mother, Babs Thore, during a mystical séance held in Salem, Massachusetts.
In an exclusive sneak peek shared by TLC with Parade ahead of the July 29 episode, Whitney travels to Salem with friends, where they take part in a spiritual session in hopes of connecting with loved ones who have passed.
“Spirit, are you here?” Whitney Thore asked gently, as the necklace she held began to spin in response.
“Is my mom here?” she continued, referring to her beloved mother, Babs Thore, who passed away in December 2022.

The séance leader then posed a question to Whitney: “What would your mother be holding in her arms, patting?”
Without hesitation, Whitney replied, “A cat.”
She followed up with an emotional question directed to the spirit world: “Mommy, do you have a cat with you?”

“Yes,” the séance leader answered.
That’s when Whitney’s longtime friend, Ashley Baynes, asked, “Is it Henchi?”—referring to Whitney’s 17-year-old cat who passed away in January.
Whitney, her voice heavy with emotion, asked, “Are you happy?”
Turning to the séance leader, she explained, “He just died, and he was her favorite cat. So I hope they’re together now.”
With a calm certainty, the séance leader confirmed, “They are very much so together.”

“That’s really all I needed to hear,” Thore shared through tears in a confessional. “Knowing that my mom and Henchi are together—I can just picture him curled up in her lap, purring, and the two of them completely at peace. That image… it’s all I need to hold onto. It gives me comfort. It’s enough.”
