“I think self-control is just a way that we can represent the Lord together,” Zac says in PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek at the season 7 premiere

Lydia Plath and her boyfriend, Zac Wyse, are choosing to move at a pace that feels right for them.
In an exclusive sneak peek of Welcome to Plathville season 7 shared by PEOPLE, 21-year-old Lydia opens up about her blossoming relationship. Although things between her and Zac are getting more serious, Lydia shares that they’ve both set clear and intentional boundaries when it comes to physical affection.
During a confessional, a producer asks Lydia, “What was the first kiss like?”
With a smile, Lydia responds, “It hasn’t happened.” She goes on to explain that it was actually Zac who suggested the idea. “He made that commitment first, and now I’ve joined him in it — we’re saving our very first kiss for our wedding day, if and when that day comes.”
She adds lightheartedly, “So I can’t really tell you what our first kiss is like… because it hasn’t happened yet.”
Zac says that he didn’t want the physicality “to get in the way of really getting to know someone.”
“So I brought it up to her,” he recalls. “I was just like, ‘What do you think?’ And she was like, ‘I’ve really actually always wanted that. I’ve always thought that would be a really sweet thing.’”
As they walked around outside and climbed a tree together, he admits that there are “tempting” moments, but the Christian couple have found other ways to connect with one another during those times.
“I think self-control is just a way that we can represent the Lord together,” Zac notes. “And we’re going to have even more fun and we’re going to even do more things, like skip around or dance or those sorts of things.”
“It’s a closer moment, and it’s better than kissing, really,” he adds, prompting a laugh out of Lydia.

“I think it’s pretty safe to say that we’re both looking forward to our first kiss when it’s time,” Lydia quips. “But that time isn’t yet.”
Though Lydia and Zac have only been dating for a few months, the couple is already looking ahead to their future together.
Zac makes it clear that marriage is on the horizon, and he shares that their decision to wait for their first kiss until their wedding day only adds to the anticipation and excitement.
“We’re not dating just to have fun or follow every fleeting desire,” Zac says. “We want to be intentional with our relationship. That’s why I’d really love to sit down with your dad soon — and ask for your hand in marriage.”

Lydia and Zac’s journey to the altar is captured throughout Welcome to Plathville season 7.
In the trailer for the latest season of the popular TLC reality series — which chronicles Lydia, her eight siblings, and their parents, Kim and Barry Plath — Lydia shared that she felt certain Zac was “the one” from the very first time they met. However, not all of her brothers were fully convinced about the relationship at first.
Despite any doubts, the couple got engaged in December 2024 and exchanged vows just two months later in a sweet ceremony held at her family’s home in Georgia.
Reflecting on their decision to share their first kiss at the altar, Zac told PEOPLE:
“The discipline it took for us to wait until our wedding day for our first kiss really reflects the level of commitment we’re bringing into this marriage.”
