Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach wore a sexy lace wedding dress with a corset detail that flattered her figure.
The images from Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach’s private wedding ceremony have garnered attention from beauty fans worldwide. Even after 8 years since winning the Miss Universe title, Pia still has her own charm. For her big day, she wore a stunning and sexy lace wedding dress designed by Filipino designer Bessie Besana.
The dress was made from sheer material with a high-slit detail. Additionally, the corset detail accentuated Pia’s slim waist and alluring curves. Pia Wurtzbach opted for a natural, sleek hairstyle and simple makeup, and did not wear a veil like many other brides.
The story behind the impressive wedding dress was revealed by the bride’s friend and designer, Bessie Besana, on May 7th.
Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach approached Bessie Besana in November 2022 and said, “I really want my wedding dress to be made by a friend. I hope that friend is you. I want the dress to be made by someone who understands me, who knows me well.” Pia trusted Bessie Besana completely with the design of her dress.
The Filipino designer was touched by the request from the 34-year-old beauty queen and recognized the importance of her big day. Bessie Besana poured his heart and soul into the dressmaking process, while Pia had complete faith in him.
“Most brides have an idea of what they want their wedding dress to look like. But what’s interesting about Pia’s dress is that she asked Jeremy about how he envisioned the bride walking down the aisle,” Bessie Besana shared.
Pia Wurtzbach’s husband described the scene of the bride wearing a soft material, high-slit, corseted wedding dress and these ideas became the inspiration for Bessie Besana’s design. Pia was surprised that her husband suggested a dress with a high slit, as she had wondered whether a dress should have a high slit or not. Ultimately, they decided to follow Jeremy Jauncey’s vision.
The dress was made from Chantilly lace, a material famous for its delicacy and lightness since the 17th century. The designer used floral patterns to decorate the dress. Pia Wurtzbach also expressed that she wanted the front of the dress to be simple but that the back of the dress should be impressive.
According to Insider, wedding dresses with corsets and sheer materials are becoming a trend in 2023, and many brands showcased such designs at Bridal Fashion Week.
Pia Wurtzbach was born in 1989 and won the Miss Universe title in 2015. The controversy surrounding the crown mix-up that year brought her name to the forefront. On May 5th, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach shared a video of her wedding ceremony with Jeremy Jauncey. The couple had a private wedding ceremony on a romantic beach, only inviting close family and friends.
