Tammy Slaton Reveals New Smile After Major Dental Work

1000-Lb. Sisters star Tammy Slaton is showing off another step in her transformation journey—this time with her teeth.

During the Aug. 19 episode of the Creative Chaos podcast, the 39-year-old proudly displayed her new smile, revealing that she’s fixed a gap toward the front of her mouth. Thanks to a set of false teeth, her top row now appears fuller and more even.

Although the results are already striking, Tammy explained that her dental makeover isn’t finished just yet. “They’re temporary still,” she shared. “They had to cement them in because the glue wasn’t holding—well, my body was rejecting it. But they had to pull teeth.”

Tammy went on to explain that the procedure involved a dental bridge—a false tooth anchored to the surrounding natural teeth to “bridge the gap” in her smile. She confirmed that more work is still to come, noting, “It’s a process.”

As for why Tammy decided to update her teeth? She said part of her reasoning was to quiet her haters’ past criticism of her smile.

“Well, some of them,” Tammy amended, quipping, “Haters make me famous.”

In addition to her dental progress, Tammy has also been candid about her broader transformation. The TLC star underwent skin removal surgery in June following her more than 500-pound weight loss, a milestone that has dramatically reshaped her life.

But along with the praise, Tammy has faced criticism about her appearance—something she hasn’t shied away from addressing. Earlier this year, she clapped back at a social media user who urged her to “fix them teeth.”

“With all due respect, I wish people like you would stop commenting crap like this,” Tammy said in a January 2024 TikTok video. “It’s not helping my confidence. I was trying to keep my confidence boosted, and seeing comments about my chin or my teeth doesn’t help.”

And Tammy clarified the reason why she hadn’t opted to change her smile up until that point, noting that the procedure was too expensive for her at the time.

“I’m trying to better my life and better myself,” she continued. “We should be lifting up people. It doesn’t matter if I’m missing teeth.”

Tammy added, “It’s sad. Why hate?”
