Bridal designer Lovell Faye Bridal (@lovellfayebridal) is among those who are helping brides-to-be honor their moms’ vintage wedding dresses, and she documents the entire process on her TikTok account.

“Everyone loves the tradition of ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,'” Lovell writes on her website.

She believes that incorporating your mother’s wedding dress into your wedding wardrobe is a touching and unique way to pay tribute to the tradition while celebrating in style. By freeing your mother’s wedding dress from storage, you can create a sentimental and one-of-a-kind piece that truly honors the past while embracing the present.

Lovell shares that brides approach her with various requests. “They want to modernize their mother’s wedding dress for their own rehearsal or bridal shower, make a gift that will last a lifetime, or find a special way to honor the memory of their mother or grandmother,” she writes on her website.

Similarly, @unboxthedress, another bridal designer, assists in transforming heirloom gowns into beautiful bridal robes. One mother of the bride wanted to pass down her dress without imposing her style on her daughter, which led to a viral TikTok video.

Although some of the heirloom dresses only date back to the ’80s and ’90s, others go back even further.

With the assistance of her bridal designer, bride @brittanyltibbs was able to turn a third-generation wedding dress into a beautifully modern yet still charming rehearsal dress.

The TikTok video, which captured her mother’s reaction to the dress, garnered an impressive 6 million views. This proves that this wedding dress trend is gaining traction online and resonating with many people.
