Luxembourg’s Princess Alexandra’s Royal Wedding: A Stunning Elie Saab Gown, Diamond Tiara, and Ties to the Middletons Revealed.

One Week Later: Princess Alexandra and Nicolas Bagory Exchange Vows in a Religious Royal Wedding Ceremony in Bormes-les-Mimosas.

Over the weekend, the Grand Ducal family of Luxembourg traveled to the sunny South of France to attend a romantic royal wedding. Princess Alexandra, the beloved and only daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, exchanged vows with French businessman Nicholas Bagory in a religious ceremony, following their civil wedding at Luxembourg Town Hall one week prior.

Princess Alexandra arrived at the charming village church on the arm of her father, donning a stunning satin gown that is rumored to be a one-of-a-kind design by Elie Saab. The gown featured unique pleated fabric that crisscrossed across the bodice and waist, creating a classic soft A-line silhouette. To complement the gown, the bride wore an embroidered tulle veil and a breathtaking diamond tiara from the family’s precious collection – a truly crowning moment.

The Luxembourg Chaumet Choker Tiara, named for its ability to be worn as both a necklace and a diadem, was a standout piece at the wedding. Originally acquired during the reign of Alexandra’s grandfather, Grand Duke Jean, the tiara was previously worn by her grandmother, Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte, and is now a treasured possession of her mother, Grand Duchess Marie-Teresa, as reported by The Court Jeweller. The tiara features a beautiful lattice design in diamonds, which can be topped with a band of pearls, though Princess Alexandra chose to wear it as a strictly diamond piece. Having worn the tiara on several occasions prior to the wedding, the bride made a perfect choice by selecting it for her big day.

The wedding ceremony took place at the Church of Saint Trophyme in Bormes-les-Mimosas, a stylish resort town in the South of France that was also the location of James Middleton and Alizee Thevenet’s wedding in 2021. Notably, the recent royal nuptials had yet another connection to the Middleton family, as it was held on the 12th wedding anniversary of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The wedding was attended by the happy couple’s family members, including the bride’s four brothers, Crown Prince Guillaume, Prince Félix, Prince Louis, and Prince Sébastien. Also in attendance were Princess Marie-Astrid of Liechtenstein and Princess Marie-Gabrielle of Nassau. Crown Prince Guillaume, who recently welcomed his second child into the world, was accompanied by his wife, Princess Stéphanie, and their eldest son, Prince Charles. Their youngest son, Prince François, was only a few weeks old at the time and did not attend the ceremony.

Following the service, the bride and groom left the church and were greeted by well-wishers and members of the press. A waiting crowd congratulated the couple as they left the wedding in movie star style: in a vintage convertible decorated with fresh flowers.

The religious wedding ceremony followed a civil ceremony that took place a week prior, during which Princess Alexandra opted for a more understated look, donning a Valentino cape and a Maison Natan blouse and trousers. In keeping with bridal tradition, Princess Alexandra accessorized her outfit with a white Chanel handbag and a pair of towering nude stilettos. The groom, who is known for his signature bleach blond hair, looked dashing in a navy suit paired with a sky blue tie.

Princess Alexandra is an active member of the Luxembourg royal family and a professional linguist. She currently holds the seventh position in the line of succession, following her older brother, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, his two-year-old son Prince Charles, and his newborn son Prince François, as well as her brother Prince Félix and his children, Princess Amalia and Prince Liam. Behind Alexandra is her younger brother, Prince Sébastien. It is worth noting that the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess’s third son, Prince Louis, is not in line for the throne, as he relinquished his claim to the crown when he married a commoner, Tessy Antony de Nassau, in 2006. The couple welcomed two sons, Prince Gabriel and Prince Noah, before getting divorced in 2019.

Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa are expected to attend the Coronation of King Charles III on May 6th, along with other foreign royals.
