I just finished watching the 1000-lb Sisters’ London episode, and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been this entertained by reality TV. Cast trips are usually the highlight of any reality show, but watching the Slaton family break free from their small-town Kentucky bubble and try to take on London for the very first time? That’s next-level comedy gold.
In Season 6, Episode 9, “Bangers and Clash,” the family heads across the pond for a vacation that couldn’t be more different from their everyday lives back home. What truly makes this episode must-see TV are all the painfully awkward — and laugh-out-loud — moments as this small-town American crew attempts to navigate a whole new world. From language barriers to cultural confusion, it’s everything you’d hope for and more.
And of course, it wouldn’t be 1000-lb Sisters without the drama. Amy’s emotional breakdown over leaving her boys back home hits hard, while the ongoing tension between Tammy and Amanda keeps the family fireworks going.
Simply put, this is reality TV at its absolute best.
What made the 1000-lb Sisters London episode so wildly entertaining were all the little moments that showed just how out of their element the family really was. You could practically feel how out of touch they were with the rest of the world, and that’s exactly what made it such great TV. There were plenty of times I felt that classic second-hand embarrassment watching them try to navigate a country so far removed from their small-town USA comfort zone — and honestly, that’s what made it all the more hilarious.
