Bride Combines Wedding and Funeral to Cut Costs
A woman from Santa Maria, California, has decided to combine her upcoming wedding with her aunt’s funeral to save on expenses. The Daily Mail reported that the bride made the decision due to the increasing cost of hosting both events separately.
On May 10th, the woman posted a message on a Facebook group to announce her unusual decision of holding a wedding and a funeral at the same time. She even planned to have her aunt’s casket opened during the ceremony so that guests could pay their respects before offering congratulations to the newlyweds.
Her post read, “Some of you may have forgotten, but unfortunately, Aunt Karen passed away due to natural causes. We are deeply saddened by her loss but will not be cancelling the wedding next week. In fact, we know that Aunt Karen would have wanted to bless our wedding day with love and happiness.
We also want to let you know that the cost of her funeral has become overwhelming, so we have decided to hold her viewing during our wedding. Please feel free to come to the church and say your final goodbyes to Aunt Karen. We are saddened by her passing, but we are also happy to be getting married on this day. We hope to see you all there on Saturday.”
One of the bride’s acquaintances left a comment under the post, stating, “I hope Aunt Karen rests in peace. She always loved weddings and would have been happy to be a part of this one last time.”
Nevertheless, the post was soon captured and shared on Facebook, leading to widespread criticism from the online community:
- “What on earth is happening? Where has the normal world gone?”
- “That’s a wedding I wouldn’t want to attend.”
- “So, the bride decided to combine the wedding and funeral to save on church fees? That’s just bizarre!”
- “It’s quite creepy. I can’t even imagine what the atmosphere would be like on that day.”
- “Regardless, having the casket of the deceased at the wedding is just not appropriate.”
In conclusion, the idea of combining a wedding and a funeral may seem like a way to cut costs, but it has caused controversy among the public. The bride’s decision to hold both events at the same time has been met with criticism and disapproval. While it may have been a well-intentioned move to honor her aunt’s memory, it has sparked a debate on what is appropriate for such significant life events.
