TikToker Nguyen Thanh Nhi wanted to help his grandmother have a beautiful wedding photo set, so he transformed himself into a playful and mischievous groom.
In recent days, the unique wedding photos of the young man from the Mekong Delta have delighted netizens. In the photos, the bride is an elderly woman with salt and pepper hair, “coupled” with a young man. They hold hands and smile brightly.
At first glance, it seems like a love story with a significant age gap, but in reality, the groom and bride in the photos are actually grandmother and grandson.
The person behind this photoshoot is Nguyen Thanh Nhi (25 years old, from Lập Vò district, Đồng Tháp province). He wanted to leave beautiful memories for his grandmother, Nguyen Thi Men (68 years old), to cherish in her old age.
In an interview with Dân tri, the young man shared that the wedding photoshoot took place on the 9th day of the Lunar New Year this year when he and his grandmother were attending the opening of a wedding dress studio in An Giang province.
“My grandmother never had the opportunity to wear a wedding dress during her own marriage, and I think she always regretted that. When we went to the wedding dress store, I came up with the idea of transforming her into a bride so that she could have a happy memory,” explained Thanh Nhi.
Regarding the reason for transforming himself into a groom, the TikToker shared that when he was four years old, his father passed away, and not long after, his mother also left. He was raised by his grandparents and had a very close relationship with them.
“At the end of 2021, my grandfather passed away, and I saw how sad my grandmother was. I wanted to do more to make her happy. So, I often take her out to go sightseeing, attend events… When I came up with the idea of taking wedding photos with my grandmother, she agreed right away. The photoshoot took about three hours,” Thanh Nhi happily explained.
In a clip posted by TikToker Nguyen Thanh Nhi, his grandmother, Mrs. Men, looks surprised as she tries on a pure white wedding dress, high heels, and has her hair and makeup done like a bride for the first time. Mrs. Men was extremely moved and couldn’t stop smiling, overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude for her grandson’s thoughtfulness.
“The message I want to convey to everyone is to cherish your loved ones and spend more time with your family,” shared Thanh Nhi.
Mrs. Men expressed her gratitude towards her thoughtful grandson. She was especially happy to see the wedding photoshoot of the two generations receiving so much love and praise.
It is known that Thanh Nhi used to work in Ho Chi Minh City before becoming a TikToker. He had done various jobs such as waiter, motorbike taxi driver, freelance MC, and later transitioned to TikTok reviewing southern traditional foods.
In 2021, due to the pandemic, Thanh Nhi returned to his hometown to live with his grandparents. His previous TikTok account was lost, so he created a new one and shifted his creative content to making traditional southern Vietnamese cakes and desserts.
Currently, Thanh Nhi’s TikTok account has nearly 800,000 followers, with many videos reaching over a million views. He revealed that thanks to social media, he was able to help his family pay off debts, renovate their home, buy new furniture, and take his grandmother on many trips.
As for his future plans, Thanh Nhi shared that he will continue to create content on social media. Besides making traditional Vietnamese food, he will also make more videos about foreign cuisine. He also plans to develop his career as an MC, which he has been passionate about for a long time.
