Kody and Christine’s Legal Battle: Paternity Test Demand in Sister Wives Fallout

Kody and Christine were the first couple from Sister Wives to part ways, a decision fueled by Christine’s growing frustration over disrespect in their relationship. Following her decision to file for divorce, Kody responded with arrogance, hurling insults and shifting blame onto her. The couple shares six children, all of whom are adults now, except for their youngest, Truely, who is just 13.

Since their split, Kody and Christine’s relationship has remained strained, especially regarding co-parenting. After Christine moved to Utah, Kody made little effort to connect with Truely. Now, with Christine happily remarried, she is demanding a paternity test from Kody, raising questions about his biological relationship with Truely.

Christine Takes Legal Action Against Kody

As reported by AshleysRealityRoundUp, Christine and Kody are set to appear in court on December 18, 2024, in Utah for a case management conference. Their lawyers have arranged for them to participate via a virtual call. However, they learned on October 29 that recording the proceedings is prohibited, with court documents warning against any unauthorized recording, which could lead to contempt charges.

In addition to these proceedings, Christine has formally requested a paternity test from Kody to establish his biological connection to Truely.

Kody’s Response to the Paternity Test Demand

The legal dispute between Kody and Christine began on September 16, 2024, when she filed a “Petition for Declaration of Paternity, Child Custody, Parent Time, and Support” under her married name, Christine Woolley. In her petition, she emphasized the necessity of establishing Kody’s paternity in light of their unique marital status, as polygamy was illegal in Utah at the time of their marriage. Consequently, Kody’s name does not appear on Truely’s birth certificate, complicating matters of legal parentage.

As Christine navigates this co-parenting lawsuit, proving Kody’s parentage is crucial. Interestingly, on the same day Kody submitted his response to Christine’s complaint—October 23, 2024—he paid a fee related to paternity, implying that the test may already be underway.

It appears that Kody is indeed Truely’s biological father, but the paternity test is necessary to formalize this for the court case. As the legal proceedings unfold, fans of Sister Wives are keenly watching the developments in this ongoing saga.
