While Welcome To Plathville fans are aware that Ethan and Olivia Plath were in the process of a divorce, the paperwork is telling. Once the couple filed, the public record showed a different picture than had previously been painted.
Ethan And Olivia Plath Divorce Filings
On February 21, Welcome To Plathville stars, Ethan and Olivia Plath, officially sent in the divorce paperwork. After filing with the courts, fans have noticed some strange details in the documents. Within the statements, Ethan and Olivia say their date of separation is February 25, 2023. Although the timeline seems to match up, the separation came just three months after the couple began living in Victoria, Minnesota. However, this also follows Olivia’s sister, Sophia Meggs-Roberts’ statement in June of 2023 saying, “Olivia and Ethan are in the middle of a divorce.”

Even so, the separation and date of filing were nearly one year apart. Reportedly, Olivia and Ethan began filling out the divorce forms on December 2, 2023. Markedly, the reason for waiting nearly two months to file is unknown. But, Olivia told Ryan Bailey during an interview in So Bad It’s Good that Ethan held out on signing hoping the couple could reconcile.
Ethan And Olivia State Reason For Divorce
Although Olivia Plath was spreading her wings and testing new sides of herself, the divorce paperwork didn’t reveal any infidelity from either party. Instead, much like in Welcome To Plathville, it lists relationship issues that made the relationship unsavable. It states: “There has been an irretrievable breakdown of our marriage relationship.”
Ethan Plath’s Current Jobs
Additionally, Welcome To Plathville stars, Ethan and Olivia Plath, listed their jobs on the forms. First, let’s talk about Ethan Plath. Within the documentation, he lists working for Discovery (TLC) and UPS. Further, he is a salaried employee for Discovery spending an average of thirty hours per week. Then it states Ethan makes just approximately slightly less than $30,000 a year from Discovery. He also indicates he is an hourly employee of UPS working an average of twenty-four hours a week and makes marginally more than his with UPS job.
Olivia Plath’s Job Reveals Something Strange
However, when reading Olivia Plath’s listing, something stood out. Within the document, she similarly lists Discovery with approximately thirty-hour weeks on average making $30,000 annually. But strangely, she doesn’t indicate her photography business which is easily seen on Welcome To Plathville and social media. Since she lists fewer than forty hours on average, she had to answer follow-up questions:
- QUESTION: “Why is Petitioner A unemployed or working less than 40 hours per week?”
- ANSWER: “Less than 40 hours: Work for Discovery is not consistent each week. I put 30 hours a week as an average. Some weeks are more, some are less.”
- QUESTION: “What is Petitioner A’s past work experience (type of jobs, hours, pay, length of time at the job) and what are Petitioner A’s professional qualifications or licenses?”
- ANSWER: “Talent for Discovery, Receptionist.”
Surprisingly, Olivia Plath lists “Receptionist” and doesn’t include “Photographer” in the filing.
Olivia Plath’s Last Name
After Ethan and Olivia Plath told fans they were divorcing, the question of last name came up for Olivia. On her Instagram page, she answers: “Haha it cracks me up how many times I get asked this question 😂 Yes, I’ve been a Plath for the entirety of my adulthood, it’s the name that is tied to all of my personal and business assets.” But surprisingly, on the divorce papers, neither Olivia nor Ethan Plath listed any real estate. Furthermore, in the section for “assets,” they have few included.
Notably, the only assets they write down are a 2016 Subaru Outback for Olivia and a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe for Ethan. Contrarily, Welcome To Plathville highlights multiple vehicles that Ethan purchased and the couple fought over. Likewise, they say the value for all other assets is zero, including jewelry, furniture, stocks, etc. Additionally, there was no listing of debts for either of the filers. Meanwhile, they left the spousal support section empty as well.
Ethan And Olivia Plath Raise Red Flags
After leaving the “Spousal support” section blank, listing no debt, and few assets a court administrator flagged their paperwork. Following, Ethan and Olivia Plath were sent a “Deficiency Notice.” Likewise, the court administrator highlighted the following concerns:
- “Paragraph 16(a) of the Joint Petition needs to be addressed as well as Paragraph 17 both on page 10.”
- “Paragraph number 6 (spousal maintenance) on page 15 needs a response as well.”
- “Are pages 22 through 30 filled out accurately? No bank accounts, assets or liabilities for either co-petitioner?”
- “Additionally, when submitting the Joint Petition, please efile the Joint Petition as well as a copy of the same document efiled as proposed order.”
