He walked into 90 Day: Hunt for Love Season 2 as a newcomer, and within days he was at the center of the season’s messiest friendship fallout. But the more viewers learn about Brian Burt, the more one question keeps coming up: the man introduced as a former NFL player appears never to have played a single NFL game. So who is Brian Burt really — and who will he actually choose?
From East Wenatchee to Fresno State
According to TV Insider, Brian is originally from East Wenatchee, Washington, and attended Fresno State, where he majored in Africana Studies. Football runs in the family: his Fresno State bio notes that his father, Scott, also played college football, and Brian has two siblings, Tyna and Jasmine. Today, he lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.
On the field, Brian played wide receiver for the Fresno State Bulldogs.
The NFL Chapter That Lasted One Summer
TV Insider reports that the Oakland Raiders signed Brian as a free agent in May 2019, and that by August 2019 his contract had been waived. For that reason, the outlet notes, it appears he never played in an NFL game. In 2020, Brian himself posted, “I’ll be back trust me.. @nfl.”
That timeline matters because Brian has been described on the show’s cast materials as a “retired NFL player.” Reaching an NFL camp is a real achievement — thousands of college players never get that far — but it is not the same as playing in the league. The gap between those two things is exactly what has viewers talking: is “retired NFL player” a fair label for a summer with a team, or does it oversell the story?

What Does Brian Do Now?
TV Insider says it is unclear what Brian does for work today. Ahead of his reality TV debut, he frequently posted fashion and style videos on social media, and he has amassed nearly 12,000 followers on Instagram.

Heading into Episode 4, he was already in the middle of the drama — before Emma Perry decided to lock in with Jamal Menzies, she twerked on Brian and kissed him on the floor, even though Chloe Fabiano had told her she had feelings for him.

Chloe, Emma — or Someone New Entirely?
So far, Brian’s strongest connection has been with Chloe. During Episode 1, he gave his necklace to Chloe to signal that he wanted to pursue her further. The next morning, when Chloe and Emma asked Brian for help with the stove while making eggs, Chloe admitted she had changed her mind about him: “I wasn’t too sure about Brian when he gave me his necklace last night, but he’s actually cute, and muscley, and helpful.”
Then came the kiss. Emma started flirting with Brian as well and later kissed him, even though she clearly wanted to be with Jamal. Chloe called Brian out for kissing Emma, but agreed to go on a date with him anyway, since he apologized. That apology bought him a second chance with Chloe — but it did not settle anything.
Here is the question that will decide Brian’s season: was the necklace the real story, or was the kiss? If Brian was serious about Chloe from night one, the Emma moment looks like a blip he has already apologized for. If he was happy to be fought over, then Chloe’s forgiveness may not last the next episode. And with new faces still arriving, nobody can rule out a third option — someone Brian has not even met yet.
90 Day: Hunt for Love Season 2 airs Mondays at 8/7c on TLC. So tell us: does the NFL label change how you see Brian — and if you were Chloe, would the apology have been enough?
