Of all the drama 90 Day: Hunt for Love Season 2 has served up, the argument that blew up this week was not about a love triangle. It was about hair. Now a former cast member has stepped in with a message that has the fandom arguing all over again: leave Emma Perry’s wig alone.

Sophie Sierra, who starred on Season 1 of Hunt for Love, posted a video weighing in — and her take has split fans into two loud camps. One side says she said exactly what needed saying. The other says the wig was never really the point.

What Sophie Actually Said

According to TV Insider, Sophie opened her video by making one thing clear: she was not picking a side in the wider Hunt for Love drama. She was speaking from personal experience. She revealed that she wore a wig herself for around two years, saying it became her whole identity at the time. Her question to critics was blunt: Emma wears a wig — so what? The focus, she argued, should be on the show, not on a cast member’s hair, and the constant judgment of cast members’ appearance is damaging to their mental health.

Why a Wig Became the Whole Conversation

Emma’s love life has dominated Season 2: she and Jamal Menzies grew close fast, and viewers learned the two had slept together the night before filming began. Emma had also previously hooked up with Rob Warne — Sophie’s ex-husband and Jamal’s best friend — though she assured Jamal that chapter was over.

Somewhere along the way, the online conversation drifted from the messy triangle to Emma’s hair. Emma herself has previously said on TikTok that wearing a wig is a personal preference: she likes long, straight hair, and maintaining that look was damaging her natural hair. Sophie noted that she, like Emma, is mixed — her dad is Black — and said it is completely normal for mixed women and Black women to wear wigs. Hair, she argued, is self-expression.

Team “She’s Right — It’s Just Hair”

One camp sees Sophie’s video as a long-overdue reality check. In this view, the wig criticism was never fair commentary on the show — it was personal. Reality stars sign up to have their dating-show choices judged, this camp argues, not their hair picked apart episode after episode. There is also a representation angle: when a mixed-race woman explains, in her own words, why wigs are normal and personal, dismissing that starts to look less like TV criticism and more like policing how someone is allowed to look.

The other camp pushes back — not by defending wig-shaming, but by arguing the wig debate is a distraction from the actual show. In this view, what viewers are really reacting to is Emma’s whirlwind storyline: the pre-filming hookup with Jamal, the Rob connection, the speed of it all. The hair, they argue, just became shorthand for a much bigger frustration with the season. For them, Sophie’s video is welcome — but it does not settle the bigger argument about Emma’s season.

The Rob Question She Answered Head-On

Sophie clearly knew the other question coming her way: how can she defend Emma when Emma hooked up with her ex-husband? She answered it directly, saying she is grown, she does not care who her ex sleeps with, and she is not going to hate someone for a hookup that happened before they even knew her. That answer removes the easiest attack line against her defense: Sophie is not covering for a friend, but speaking as someone who has lived the exact same experience.
