Eleven years. Seventeen seasons. One Georgia farmhouse — and a family tree that keeps getting more complicated. With 7 Little Johnstons returning to TLC on November 17, new viewers keep asking the same thing: who exactly is who? Weddings, babies, feuds, and estrangements — here is your no-confusion guide to every Johnston.

The Parents: Trent & Amber Johnston

Every story starts here. Trent and Amber, both born with achondroplasia, have been married for over two decades and built the foundation of the show: two biological children (Jonah and Elizabeth) and three adopted internationally (Anna, Emma, and Alex). They have weathered health scares, teenage rebellion, and an almost-empty nest. In the new season, Trent turns 50 with a “50 new things at 50” bucket list — while Amber openly navigates perimenopause.

The Eldest: Jonah, Elizabeth & Anna

Jonah Johnston, the eldest, gave the show its first “they grow up so fast” gut punch when he moved out on his own back in Season 4. Today he is forging his own path — and, according to reports, his girlfriend Ashley has become part of the family storyline.

Elizabeth “Liz” Johnston

is the family’s new matriarch-in-the-making. She and husband Brice Bolden are parents to daughter Leighton and welcomed baby boy Coleman in September 2026 — with baby No. 2’s pregnancy journey set to anchor the November 17 season.

Anna Johnston is the name on everyone’s lips. Once the show’s fan-favorite rebel, Anna announced her exit after the season that aired the family feud and remains estranged from her parents. She will not appear in the new season.

The Youngest: Emma & Alex

Emma Johnston — the TikTok-savvy baby of the family — turns 21 in the new season, and the trailer teases she is “still single” and very much looking. Alex Johnston, the youngest son, keeps a lower profile, but according to reports, he is in a relationship of his own. The two youngest have grown from the show’s kids into its comic relief — and its heart.

The New Generation: Brice, Leighton & Baby No. 2

Brice Bolden married into reality TV and handled the cameras like a champ. Daughter Leighton stole Season 16 (the Halloween pumpkin photoshoot remains iconic), and baby Coleman arrived in September 2026. The new season’s big tease: the journey to baby No. 2 — boy or girl, and the achondroplasia question fans always ask: little person or average height?

The Extended Family

No guide is complete without Nana (Mary Alice Maddox Johnston), Trent’s mother and the family’s beloved matriarch, who passed away in October 2026 — just two years after her husband Poppy (Walter “Pete” Lawrence Johnston) died in 2024. And fans will never forget Joose, the Finnish former exchange student the family visited in the Arctic back in Season 13.

Eleven years in, the Johnstons aren’t the family from the 2015 pilot anymore. They’re bigger, messier, and more real than ever — which is exactly why we keep watching.

So here’s our question to you: If TLC handed one Johnston their own spin-off tomorrow, who gets your vote — Liz the supermom, Emma the scene-stealer, or Anna, the one who got away? Drop your pick below.
