The 10 Most Unforgettable “7 Little Johnstons” Moments of All Time, Ranked

Eleven years. Seventeen seasons. And a family that proved the size of your heart has nothing to do with the size of your body. 7 Little Johnstons has given us weddings, births, breakups, Arctic adventures, and tears — so many tears. We did the impossible and ranked the 10 most unforgettable moments in Johnston family history, from #10 to #1. Fair warning — you WILL argue with our #1.
#10 & #9: Where It All Began
#10 — The series premiere (2015). Seven little people, one Georgia farmhouse, and the night America fell in love. Nobody knew a TLC pilot about “the world’s largest known family of little people” would still be running more than a decade later.
#9 — “Jonah and the Big House” (Season 4, 2017). The eldest kid moves out on his own — the show’s first “they grow up so fast” gut punch.
#8 & #7: The Wild Adventures
#8 — The Finland trip (Season 13, 2023). Trent, Amber, Alex, and Emma flew to the Arctic to visit former exchange student Joose — Elf school, welly throwing, and meeting the actual Santa Claus in “Reindeer Games” and “Desperately Seeking Santa.” The Johnstons in the snow. Iconic.
#7 — The holiday specials. “Trent’s Yule Log,” the Thanksgiving chaos, Liz’s 21st birthday hoedown — and who could forget Season 16, when Liz and Brice put baby Leighton in a pumpkin for a Halloween photoshoot? Holiday episodes are this family’s secret superpower.

#6 & #5: The Growing Pains
#6 — Anna moves out (Season 15). The hardest arc the show ever aired: Anna’s distance from the family, the fallout that played out on camera, and the slow, fragile rebuilding. The moment the show — and its audience — grew up.
#5 — Jonah opens up (Season 15). Jonah’s candid conversations about his mental health struggles, and a family learning how to listen. Some of the rawest, bravest television TLC has ever broadcast.
#4 & #3: The New Arrivals
#4 — The pregnancy reveal (Season 14). The most talked-about moment of the season: Liz telling the family she was expecting. Overnight, the show’s tone shifted from lighthearted family comedy to something deeper, realer, and scarier.
#3 — Liz and Brice’s wedding (Season 17 arc). Years of dating, a painful breakup, a baby — then an engagement in late May 2025 and a backyard wedding in early November 2025, with cameras rolling, a muddy ceremony site, and the heartbreaking loss of Trent’s mother, Nana, just weeks before. The season 17 finale, “10 out of 10 Wedding,” was pure catharsis.

#2 & #1: The Heart of It All
#2 — Trent and Amber’s love story. High school sweethearts, married since 1998, who built the largest known family of little people on Earth — seven strong. Every wedding, birth, and milestone on this list rests on these two. Never forget where the story started.
#1 — The birth of Leighton (Season 14 finale, July 2, 2024). Liz’s high-stakes C-section. An anxious family pacing the hospital. And then — the first Johnston grandchild, average-sized, perfect. Trent said it best: “A grandchild is the best gift your child could give you.” Eleven years in, and the show’s most emotional episode is still the one where the family got bigger.

So — did we get it right? Is Leighton’s birth the undisputed #1, or does the backyard wedding (or the pilot that started it all) deserve the crown? Drop YOUR top 3 in the comments — and keep it kind, because this is the family that taught us how.
