Janelle’s Honey-Do Glow-Up: Fans Say Boyfriend Pete Is the Green Flag Kody Never Was

Seven months of bare windows in her main living area. That is how Janelle Brown summed up the state of her new North Carolina home in an Instagram update posted Thursday, Oct. 15. The curtains are finally up — and according to People, Janelle made sure the man who helped hang them got the spotlight.
A simple home project. A grateful shout-out. And yet fans are treating this as a full-blown glow-up moment for one of Sister Wives‘ most beloved stars. Here is everything we know, and why viewers can not stop talking about the boyfriend at the center of it.
Curtains, a Fireplace, and a Man Who Shows Up
According to People, Janelle shared new photos of her freshly hung curtains: panels now frame the windows on both sides of her living room fireplace, plus the windows overlooking her porch. In the caption, she thanked her boyfriend Pete for working through her honey-do list, adding that projects are simply more fun with someone by her side.
It is, on the surface, the most ordinary couple moment imaginable. But ordinary is exactly the point — and that is why fans melted.

Why Fans Are Calling Pete a Green Flag
Longtime Sister Wives viewers have watched Janelle do just about everything herself for years — packing up a whole life, buying a 156-acre plot of land, building a brand-new house from scratch. So when her new man cheerfully picks up a drill and works through the household to-do list, fans read it as the ultimate green flag.
The romance itself is still young: Janelle revealed her relationship with Pete in August, in what People described as her first official relationship since her split from Kody Brown. The two currently live in different states — she is in North Carolina while Pete is in Las Vegas — and Janelle has said they are slowly figuring out the long-distance thing while working to change it.

The Kody Contrast Nobody Can Unsee
Part of why this story landed so hard is what Janelle herself said just days earlier. In an interview with People tied to the new season, she reflected on nearly three decades of marriage to Kody Brown, saying her whole life had been determined by committee decisions. Now, she said, she is moving forward on her own terms — building her house, starting a flower farm, and doing it all without waiting for anyone’s validation.
Fans did the math immediately: a man who willingly helps hang curtains versus years of committee-approved life decisions. The verdict in the comments sections has been unanimous — Pete looks like the partner Janelle deserved all along.
The 156-Acre Fresh Start (Plus Season 21)
The house project is part of a much bigger reinvention. Janelle purchased the 156-acre North Carolina property together with her daughter Madison Brush and son-in-law Caleb Brush, first announcing the purchase in December 2024 before moving in this past March. Viewers got an emotional first look at the moment she received the keys during the premiere of Sister Wives season 21 on Oct. 4.
And according to People, Pete is set to appear on the show this season, giving viewers an inside look at how the relationship came to be. After years of watching Janelle survive a breakup, a rebuild, and a move across the country, fans are rooting for this chapter to be the soft one.
