“I just don’t like him,” Ethan admits to Lydia of her now-husband in PEOPLE’s exclusive look at the upcoming episode of ‘Welcome to Plathville’

Ethan Plath Voices Concern Over Lydia’s Fast-Tracked Engagement in Upcoming Welcome to Plathville Episode
Ethan Plath is raising eyebrows about his younger sister Lydia’s whirlwind romance.
In an exclusive first look at the upcoming Welcome to Plathville episode airing August 5, Ethan, 27, sits down with Lydia, 21, for a heartfelt conversation after she drops the big news — she’s getting married to her boyfriend Zac Wyse.
Lydia opens up about why things are moving so quickly. She shares that her plans to join a ministry in Germany sparked the decision to fast-track their relationship and bring Zac along.
“I talked to my pastor about it, and he told me, ‘I’d definitely recommend you two go together — married,’” Lydia says. “The first month of our marriage is just going to be about being poured into and really receiving from the Lord.”

Ethan, clearly unsettled by how quickly things are moving between Lydia and Zac, doesn’t hold back about his concerns. He points out that the couple has only been together a short time and admits he’s having a hard time relating to Lydia’s mindset.
“Lydia and I think very differently,” he says. “We have different values, different ways of reasoning. I do believe in God, but I also believe He gave us free will — which means we’re responsible for our choices and the outcomes that come with them.”
Ethan continues, “When you say everything is divine or that God is making all your decisions, you’re kind of removing your own accountability — whether the choice turns out to be good or bad.”
Although Lydia maintains that getting married “just made sense,” Ethan can’t shake the feeling that the decision may not have been fully hers.
“To me, handing over major life choices — whether to God, a pastor, or anyone else — can make you vulnerable,” Ethan says in a confessional. “It opens the door for manipulation. Lydia’s like a blank canvas right now, and I
Ethan then gently challenges Lydia, asking if Zac is truly confident that she’s ready to commit after just three months of knowing each other.
Lydia corrects him with a small smile, “Actually, it’s been four months — if that makes a difference.”
Still, she acknowledges the unique nature of their situation. “If I were on the outside looking in, I don’t think I’d fully get it either,” she admits.
But Ethan remains unconvinced. “I just don’t understand — it feels way too fast, too overwhelming,” he says.
He adds bluntly, “Like I said, I don’t really know him… and honestly, I don’t really like him.”
Lydia, visibly hurt, asks through tears, “Why is that?”
“I’m just trying to be real with you,” Ethan replies. “I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t had the chance to get to know him yet, or if it’s just me being protective… but everything about this feels rushed.”
The moment ends with Lydia breaking down in Ethan’s arms, overwhelmed and unsure how to process his honesty.

Despite the concerns, Lydia and Zac officially tied the knot in February — just six months after first meeting at church.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the time, the couple shared that their wedding was rooted in faith and purpose. They hoped it would serve as “an example of the love Jesus has for the church,” referencing Ephesians 5:25 as the guiding verse for their marriage.
“We pictured a celebration where our closest communities could come together,” Zac said. “We didn’t want to get lost in the little details that won’t matter years from now. Our focus has always been on the bigger picture — our union before God, our friends, and our family.”
