Even after seven seasons and shedding 500 pounds, Tammy Slaton’s attitude on 1000-Lb Sisters still feels frustratingly familiar. Watching her repeat the same patterns from season one is becoming exhausting. Longtime fans have seen every high and low of Tammy’s journey, and now she’s entering a new phase. After battling multiple health scares, she was finally approved for bariatric surgery in season 6. Though she achieved some remarkable milestones, there were also painful setbacks. At this point, Tammy stands at a turning point, uncertain about what comes next.

That said, I’m not a fan of the path Tammy seems to be taking this season. She’s slipped back into her old, hostile ways—her harsh attitude is front and center again. Even the tiniest things set her off, and she’s constantly complaining, often throwing out unkind remarks toward others. At this point, her behavior can’t be chalked up to loneliness—especially now that she’s said to be in a new relationship. It’s honestly disappointing. I had high hopes for Tammy, but she’s let me down. Then again, part of me saw this coming.

Tammy’s weight-loss transformation is certainly remarkable, but there’s still a long road ahead before she can truly feel lighter in every sense. She’s hoping to undergo excess skin removal across various areas of her body—her legs, stomach, arms, face, and more. The loose skin has made walking a real challenge, and she’s even likened herself to a “daggone penguin.” Yet despite these struggles, Tammy hasn’t taken any steps to quit vaping, which continues to be a concern.

Tammy didn’t even tell her doctors about it. She claims to be vaping “for anxiety” because it calms her down. I just think she’s finding excuses not to quit and hampering her own chances of getting surgery.

Tammy appeared to be on a better path after her weight loss. She was finally able to fasten her seatbelt—a milestone that symbolized how far she had come physically. More importantly, she also seemed to be making strides in improving her mental health. Once known for her rebellious, teenager-like attitude, Tammy even began sharing uplifting messages with her followers. But in the latest season, glimpses of the old Tammy are resurfacing. She claimed her family never truly considered her feelings, despite the fact that they cared for her during her most vulnerable moments—when she was bedridden and struggling—believing in her more than she believed in herself.

Tammy’s attitude is condescending towards her sister. Her voice is laced with envy whenever she talks about Amy losing weight. Tammy has not really become a better person. Weight loss has done nothing to fix her attitude. I wish Tammy could set a better example to the fans she was hoping to motivate, and tell them they were in a safe space on her Instagram. Any progress the 1000-Lb Sisters star made has been ruined by her immaturity and her toddler tantrums, and it irritates me to watch the typical Tammy return after she pretended to be doing better.
